After using a racist slur about Spice during a recent episode of "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta," Erica Mena has been let go from the program.
According to a statement published on the "Love & Hip Hop" Instagram page on Saturday, the "Stepmother 3" and "Assistant" actor "will not appear in the next season" of the VH1 reality series.
The statement added, "The 'Love & Hip Hop' franchise has never shied away from difficult conversations in our community." Working closely with our partners, audiences will see how Erica Mena's comments are impacted in the season's last three episodes.
(According to TMZ, Mena and singer Safaree Samuels married in 2019 and divorced formally the following year. They have two small kids together.)
Mena reacted by flipping the table over, lunging at Spice, and calling the Jamaican musician a "blue monkey" after Spice called her "the first woman to be divorced" and informed her that her kid doesn't like her. Mena repeatedly referred to Spice as a "monkey" throughout the confrontation, which required the production team to separate the women.
Jo reacted to Erica's comments by saying, "Erica, I cannot believe you just called this girl a monkey and then said she should have died," in a taped confessional that was played during the program. This is what kind of sā is it? With Samuels, you have children from Jamaica. Would you appreciate it if someone referred to your kids as monkeys? Erica, you shouldn't have done that. That was inappropriate.
In another confessional, Spice claimed, "We hearing that she wishes I died on the table and giving me all these racial slurs," adding that "now... the real Erica is out."
Mena and Spice's representatives did not immediately respond to The Times' calls for comment on Sunday.
