Jennifer Lopez’s $90M Las Vegas Residency Deal in jeopardy amid tour struggles

The $90 million Las Vegas residency contract for Jennifer Lopez is questionable. In February, the 54-year-old “Jenny From the Block” singer was reportedly in discussions for a 90-show residency at The Park MGM Theater in Las Vegas for $1 million each show. However, recent events imply the pact is unstable.

According to The NY Post, Lopez's new album and tour's dismal success has made casino executives wary.

“MGM is seeing her struggle on the road. They're anxious. Poor tours seldom lead to Vegas, a source told the newspaper.

Lopez may earn between $500,000 and $600,000 an event and perform fewer gigs than scheduled due to low ticket sales, according to insiders.

Despite difficulties, Lopez and MGM are allegedly in talks, but no agreement has been made. Lopez and MGM have not replied to calls for comment.

After the popularity of her 2016–2018 Caesars Palace “All I Have” residency, The Mirror reported that J.Lo was preparing for a glamorous Las Vegas residency this year. The new play was supposed to boost The Park Theater.

Lopez ran into difficulty when she postponed events in seven locations for her highly anticipated tour in late June. Her crew gave no explanation for canceling stops in Nashville, New Orleans, Raleigh, Atlanta, Houston, Cleveland, and Tampa.

It was announced in April that her tour, initially titled “This Is Me… Now: The Tour,” was renamed “This Is Me… Live,” focusing on her biggest hits rather than her current album. Inspired by Taylor Swift and Madonna's recent tours, the relaunch sought to attract admirers from her prior work.

Despite the adjustments, ticket sales have been poor, with blocks of seats at various locations and $10 tickets on resale sites.

The tour may be canceled to prevent humiliation, but Lopez and her manager, Benny Medina, are determined to go ahead, Daily Mail writes.

One insider said, “J.Lo is overexposed and has put herself out there way too much,” referring to her many public appearances and ventures. Jennifer Lopez's ability to return to Las Vegas is unknown.
