Brazilian President: Plane Crash in Brazil, 62 passengers killed

Brazilian officials said that an aircraft carrying at least 62 passengers had crashed there on Friday.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called for a minute of silence at a briefing on Friday afternoon in honor of the 58 passengers and four survivors of the jet accident in Vinhedo, a city in the state of Sao Paulo.He stated that the reason of the collision was uncertain...

"Looks like everyone's dead," Lula said.

A plane, identified as Voepass Flight 2283, was seen falling to the earth in Vinhedo, some 50 miles northwest of Sao Paulo, according to video posted by the website BNO news.

The state fire service of Sao Paulo verified on social media that a plane had crashed near Vinhedo, sending seven crew members to the scene.

According to FlightAware, Voepass Flight 2283 was traveling from Cascavel, Brazil to Sao Paulo, Brazil. The plane was supposed to land in Sao Paulo at 1:40 p.m., having taken off from Cascavel at 11:50 a.m.

According to FlightAware, the aircraft was a twin-turboprop ATR ATR-72.
