As the nation remembers the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., events and festivities were held all over New Orleans throughout the weekend.
Every the R.E.A.L. sponsors a March and Parade through Uptown New Orleans along the Martin Luther King avenue route. Family and friends were on the parade to enjoy the bands and social groups as they matched through the neighborhood.
KIPP Central Academy's band blew popular tunes, as well as MLK. Dance groups like the Infinity Dance Academy showcased Black Pride with excitement on their faces. St. Catherine's Drexel performed too.
Social groups from the Jewish Community, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority INC, other Divine 9 Greek Organizations, as well as the SCLC joined the route promoting Peace and Unity.
Perhaps one honorable addition to the parade this year was EPIC Church of New Orleans. Their church marched towards the end of the parade hugging people while picking up in trash and debris left along the route.
Family and friends enjoyed great weather and a beautiful atmosphere of unity and positive vibes as Mayor Latoya Cantrell and other notable City Representatives led the parade.
