Parlay gives $500 scholarship to Xavier University student

The Parlay Foundation continues to help HBCU students with financial assistance. This week, Parlay granted a $500 scholarship to a Xavier University student. Savannah Samuel went through a life changing health battle in which many doctors didn't believe she could survive. Determined to pursue her goals, not only did Savannah survive and shock the physicians but she pressed forward to finish college.

With her family's help, she persistently focused on getting her degree and refused to allow anything to hinder her academic progress. Medical bills put her family in a bind but she worked several jobs to assist her mother and continue her education.

Samuel applied for any financial opportunity which would give her the support she needed to continue at Xavier. The Parlay Foundation granted her a $500 scholarship through our "I Got 5 On It Friday" campaign, which has helped many HBCU students thrive.

Samuel wrote, "Thank you so much to the Parlay Foundation for financially helping me through my journey with school👏🏾. I have a BS in Chemistry from XULA, and I was applying to PA programs at the same time. This scholarship helped me complete my prerequisites needed for PA school and money needed for application fees, and I am currently wrapping up a successful first semester of PA school. Thank you, Parlay!"
