1 Dead, Several Injured on Six Flags Rollercoaster In Georgia

A tragic incident at Six Flags Over Georgia left one guest dead and several others injured Monday afternoon, according to authorities in Cobb County, Georgia.

Police say the emergency unfolded just before 4 p.m., prompting both on‑site park officers and county patrol units to rush to the scene. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit have taken over the investigation, though officials have not yet released additional details about what caused the deadly event.

Witnesses told a local news station they saw a man fall from the park’s Goliath roller coaster, striking parts of the ride multiple times during the fall. Some said the horrifying moment appeared in souvenir photos captured during the ride.

Riders were evacuated from Goliath shortly after the incident, with the coaster stopped near its peak as emergency crews responded.

A spokesperson for Six Flags said the park’s team and local authorities acted immediately and are working closely with investigators. The company expressed deep condolences, saying, “Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with the guest’s family, friends, and loved ones. We are also providing support to the guests and team members affected.”

Six Flags has temporarily closed similar attractions across its parks while the investigation continues. The spokesperson added that no further information will be released at this time out of respect for the family’s privacy.

Six Flags Over Georgia, located in Austell just west of Atlanta, is home to Goliath—a steel hypercoaster that climbs 200 feet and reaches speeds up to 70 mph. The ride has been a signature attraction since opening in 2006.
