Republican Julia Letlow has won Louisiana’s U.S. Senate election, defeating Democratic challenger Jamie Davis in a closely watched statewide contest and securing a majority of votes cast across the state.

According to unofficial results released by the Louisiana Secretary of State, Letlow received 745,963 votes, or 51%, while Davis earned 720,106 votes, or 49%. The final margin was 25,857 votes, out of a total 1,466,069 ballots cast statewide.

With all election-day precincts and absentee ballots reported, Letlow's victory was enough to avoid a runoff election under Louisiana law.

Close Race Decided Statewide

The contest remained competitive throughout vote counting, but Letlow ultimately finished with approximately 50.9% of the vote, compared with 49.1% for Davis, giving her a statewide advantage of about 1.8 percentage points.

Election officials reported complete results from all 64 Louisiana parishes, along with returns from all 3,722 Election Day precincts, bringing the statewide count to completion.

Final Unofficial Results

Julia Letlow (Republican): 745,963 votes (51%)

Jamie Davis (Democrat): 720,106 votes (49%)

Total Votes Cast: 1,466,069

Winning Margin: 25,857 votes

Unofficial Voter Turnout: 49.3%

No Runoff Required

Because Letlow surpassed the 50% threshold needed for outright victory, the election was decided in the first round. Her statewide majority eliminates the need for a runoff and secures the Senate seat pending official certification of the election results.

The race drew participation from voters across every region of Louisiana and resulted in one of the closest statewide contests of the 2026 election cycle.

Election officials emphasized that the vote totals remain unofficial until certification is completed by the appropriate state authorities.
