She was tried for drug possession and claims she packed them accidentally. She began her nine-year term in a Russian correctional camp in November 2022.
In exchange for a Russian arms trader, President Joe Biden released her on December 8, 2022.
At a news conference that day, Cherelle Griner declared, “Today my family is whole. As you know, many families are incomplete.”
Brittney Griner played basketball again in May 2023.
Her biography “Coming Home” on her time in Russia will be released on May 7.
